Client: Eastleigh Borough Council

Budget: 5k - £10k

DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) are the new tenant within Eastleigh Borough Council’s (EBC) HQ building. The entire 5 storey building already has a Cat6a structured cabling system in place and to enable DEFRA to utilise this cabling, whilst ensuring network security for both for both parties, 2Teck’s network cabling engineers installed over 200 new Cat6a interlinks between the EBC and DEFRA server cabinets in order to provide complete network segregation. The existing Cat6a numbering scheme was duplicated within the DEFRA network cabinet to allow more efficient network patching and all links were tested using the latest Fluke DSX5000 network analyser.

The new DEFRA server cabinet also required dual power provision. 2Teck’s electrical division installed 2 new ceiling mounted 240v 16amp power supplies, one from the server room UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and one from the main distribution board.

With 2Teck having the capability to provide both network cabling and electrical installations, and having a single point of contact, the customer’s project management was simplified and the installation process expedited.
